The Exhibition Now Is Over

Steve Box Looking CoolThere’s faux classy and there’s genuine classy and I’ve always thought there was something genuinely classy about photography exhibitions, so it was with great delight that The Box Ticked played a set at the opening of Nicky Kenny’s recent exhibition at the Stantonbury Theatre Gallery.

We’ve got a setlist somewhere, so will pop that up here at some point – if I remember correctly, there was a great live version of rehearsal favourite “The Bastard Son of Dean Freidman” by Half Man Half Biscuit.  The aforementioned Dean has always reminded me of my Uncle Barry, but you probably don’t really care about that.  There’s a good lyric in there somewhere actually.

Anyway, congratulations to Nicky, and cheers for inviting us.

Two Gigs Next Weekend

Waterside Festival Gigs Next Weekend

It’s the Waterside Festival at Linford next weekend, and we’re lucky enough to be playing on both days, so you’ve really got no excuse to not catch us at one of them.

On Saturday 15th June we’re the headline act on the Monkey Kettle Stage at 6:45pm and on Sunday 16th June we’re the first featured act of the day on the Scribal Gathering Stage at 1pm.

We’ve played the festival every year for three or four years and it’s always a great place to spend a day or two, so pop along and say hi.

Gig Reviews

The Brave Old Oak – Towcester

Just a couple of pictures here – if I could find the setlist, then I’d post up the songs we played.  But I can’t.  Because I never use them – I just rely on the others to tell me what song we’re doing next, and if they don’t, then I start playing the song I want to play next, and tell them that they did the setlist wrong.

From memory though, we did:

  • Muse Killer
  • Plugging Away
  • DayDream
  • Kebab Van
  • Corbijn
  • Murphys
  • New Song in the set
  • Sack Me
  • Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

If either of the others disagree, then I’ll make them prove it.  And they can’t!  They can’t I tell you!!!!

Anyway, we had a great night, and got to meet Stevie the promoter from Wildfire Sessions.  We’ve arranged a couple of gigs over the coming months with them, and I’ll post up some info soon.  As soon as I can find the details anyway.

Keep on boxing!

Mick Box.
